Carrick Press Conference: Injury Updates and Baleba Bid

Michael Carrick will address the media this afternoon ahead of Manchester United's Premier League opener at Hull City. The head coach is preparing for his first full campaign in charge of the Reds, with several key topics on the agenda.

Injury Updates Ahead of Hull City Clash

Carrick will provide injury updates during the press conference. Benjamin Sesko and Matthijs de Ligt featured in training on Tuesday and should be a topic for discussion. Sesko is more likely than De Ligt to be fit for Saturday, but both have missed all of United's pre-season fixtures this summer and may not be risked. Mason Mount was missing earlier this week, and an update on his fitness is also expected.

Transfers: £65m Bid for Baleba

Transfers will be a major topic of conversation. On Wednesday, news broke that United had launched a £65m bid for Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba. The club has made a bid of around £60m, plus £5m in add-ons, to sign the midfielder. Baleba was on the Reds' radar last summer when he was valued at £100m, but Brighton's valuation in excess of that figure cooled their interest. Baleba's form dipped throughout last season, leading Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler to suggest that transfer reports had affected the player.

Marcus Rashford's Potential Return

Carrick is also likely to be quizzed on Marcus Rashford ahead of his potential Premier League return this weekend. The forward played last weekend against AC Milan and has been reintegrated into the group since his Barcelona loan.

The press conference is scheduled for 5:30pm BST, where Carrick will provide further details on injuries, transfers, and team selection.
