Single Mum Working 7 Days Gets Life-Changing Food Business Opportunity
Single Mum's Dream Food Business Launched by Millionaires

A single mother who works four jobs to support herself and her teenage son has been given a life-changing opportunity by a wealthy couple after appearing on the Channel 5 programme Rich House, Poor House.

The Struggle of a Hardworking Mother

Sue and her 16-year-old son James live in a two-bedroom terraced house in Ashby, Scunthorpe. To make ends meet, Sue works seven days a week in four different roles: as a carer on Mondays, an assistant nurse from Tuesday to Friday, a cleaner on Saturdays, and a burger seller on Sundays. After paying bills, she has only £70 left each week.

Despite her relentless efforts, Sue has long dreamed of launching her own food business, producing high-protein hemp products. However, financial constraints have kept this ambition on hold.

A Glimpse into the Lives of the Wealthy

For the programme, Sue and James swapped homes for a week with millionaire couple Nick and Sarah, who live in a luxurious five-bedroom farmhouse with their daughters Megan and Lucy. Their property features opulent bathrooms, a cinema room, a games room, and a private lake.

Nick initially trained as a primary school teacher but left to pursue his passion for horse training. He founded Nick Bradley Racing, which now turns over £4 million annually. The couple own and breed hundreds of racehorses. Despite their success, Nick admitted to working up to 90 hours some weeks.

A Life-Changing Offer

Throughout the swap, Nick praised Sue's work ethic and was determined to help her. When they reunited, he unveiled a plan to support her food business. Sue broke down in tears as Nick announced: "We'd also like to buy you a food wagon van."

Nick also arranged a consultation with a friend who runs a food company to guide Sue on entering the industry. He has taken a stake in her venture and serves as a company director, offering ongoing advice.

Additional Generosity

Nick did not stop there. He also arranged a paid summer job for James, who had planned to start a plumbing course. The 16-year-old will work under Nick's handyman Mick, converting a double garage into residential accommodation.

Sue expressed her gratitude, saying: "Sometimes I do feel like a little hamster on a wheel. I keep going and I keep going and I pay the bills, but I'm not actually moving forward." Now, with Nick and Sarah's help, she is finally moving toward her dream.

Rich House, Poor House is available to stream on Channel 5.
