Manchester United are reportedly 'angry' at the developments surrounding Marcus Rashford's future and a potential permanent move to Barcelona. The England international spent the season on loan with the La Liga giants, and there was a growing expectation that the move would become permanent this summer.
Rashford's Loan Spell at Barcelona
Rashford requested a move away from United last summer and was granted a loan to Barcelona, which includes an option to make the move permanent. During his loan spell, he scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists, raising questions about where the Manchester United academy graduate will play next season.
Barcelona have the option to sign Rashford for £26 million, but time is running out to activate the clause. Rashford has previously expressed a desire to become a Barcelona player on a permanent basis, which would end his career at United.
Fresh Update on Rashford's Future
According to Spanish publication Sport, there is 'anger' from United that a deal with Barcelona for Rashford is yet to be agreed and appears increasingly unlikely. Barcelona initially wanted to negotiate a move, with another loan suggested by Rashford's representatives, but no agreement was reached.
This led to Barcelona securing an €80 million (£69 million) move for Anthony Gordon from Newcastle, casting doubt on the La Liga club's need to sign Rashford this summer, as both players occupy the same position. As a result, United are now reassessing their position and are said to be willing to negotiate with Barcelona about a potential deal.
Barcelona's Other Targets
Barcelona have also been credited with an interest in signing Bernardo Silva, who will leave Manchester City this summer as a free agent. It was suggested that a move for Silva, combined with signing Gordon, would rule out Rashford returning to the Camp Nou on a permanent deal. However, recent reports claim Silva will not make a decision on his future until after the World Cup.
It remains to be seen what will happen with Rashford's future, with Barcelona reportedly no longer deeming a move for the England international as a priority for this window.
