Mike Tindall's company has been claiming government furlough money despite his status as a member of the Royal Family and his personal wealth. The former England rugby star, 42, who is married to the Queen's granddaughter Zara, runs a firm managing his speaking engagements, which have dried up during the pandemic.
Kimble Trading Ltd, the company in question, has confirmed it received government aid. Accounts for the year ending March 31, 2020, state that the outbreak of Covid-19 led to the cancellation of events, and the company took advantage of all available government aid to support the business and its employees.
The company appears on a government list of firms that have used the grants. Conservative MP Nigel Mills commented, 'It's a bit rich for Mike Tindall to be taking money from the public purse.' However, Tindall's representative said he did not personally receive the furlough payment.
Tindall and Zara live on the 730-acre Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire and are expecting their third child. Tindall has spoken about the need to plan financially, noting that sponsorships won't last forever and that school bills are on the horizon.
