A determined father has ignited a heated online debate after he was filmed taking a t-shirt from a woman at a rodeo in California to present to his young daughter.
The viral clip, shared on social media, shows Atascadero real estate broker Marco Caracas leaning over the woman and grabbing the t-shirt as it was thrown toward her in the crowd at the SLO County Sheriff’s Rodeo in Paso Robles. His wife Amelia captured the moment as Marco then walked over to his daughter, handing her the shirt with a broad grin. He returned to the woman, giving her an apologetic pat on the shoulder as she appeared to express her frustration.
Amelia added text over the video reading, 'Daddy will you catch me a shirt,' and played Jennifer Hart's 2022 song 'Half the Man' alongside the clip, leaving the exact exchange unclear. However, she captioned the post: 'This ended with our daughter giving the shirt to the lady but man, the great lengths this man will go for his girls.'
Internet Divided Over Father's Actions
The incident has split opinion online, with some arguing that Marco had no right to intercept the t-shirt intended for the woman. One Instagram user commented, 'Yea let’s just snatch something away from someone, that was clearly thrown at that certain someone, who is not you.' Another said, 'I would have been disappointed in my dad to treat a lady like that. I wouldn't even want the shirt anymore.' A third concluded, 'Daddy teaching his kid the wrong lesson,' while another called it 'embarrassing.'
Supporters Defend Father's Motives
On the other hand, many came to Marco's defense, emphasizing that prioritizing his daughter's happiness was paramount. One supporter wrote, 'Personally I see a man doing whatever to please his baby girl who cares what a stranger thinks.' Another argued, 'All yall crying don’t understand father hood. When it comes to your baby boy or girl you do whatever to make them happy no matter what. The lil girl deserved the shirt more than the lady.' A third added, 'I’d kill for my child. Snatching an air cannon tshirt out the air (not from someone’s hands) is a no brainer. Don’t be soft.' Another user noted, 'People thinking the woman is entitled to a shirt being thrown into a crowd is wild.'
