Arsenal Plan Big Summer Window After Title Win, Vieira Deal Stalls
Arsenal Plan Big Summer After Title Win, Vieira Deal Stalls

Arsenal have been crowned Premier League champions for the first time since 2004, securing the title without kicking a ball on Tuesday night after Bournemouth held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw. The result leaves Mikel Arteta's side four points clear with just one game remaining, making them untouchable at the summit.

However, on-field success has not halted the club's transfer planning. Last summer, Arsenal spent over £250 million in a record-breaking window, bringing in eight new players. That investment has paid off handsomely, with the 2025/26 campaign already the most successful in recent memory across all four competitions.

Manager Mikel Arteta knows that reaching the top is one thing, but staying there is another. He will again rely on sporting director Andrea Berta to secure deals. Berta is working on several outgoings to balance the books before new arrivals. Arsenal have been linked with Julian Alvarez, Mateus Fernandes, and Tino Livramento in recent weeks.

Kroenke Makes Transfer Statement

Josh Kroenke, Arsenal's co-chairman and son of owner Stan Kroenke, has hinted at another significant transfer window. Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) have invested heavily during Arteta's tenure, and last year's record outlay appears not to be a one-off.

Writing in the match-day programme ahead of the Burnley game, Josh said: "We will give everything we’ve got to win major trophies. You can rest assured that everyone at the club will continue the hard work to make the coming weeks unforgettable." He added: "Between us, we are building something very special and, wherever this month of May takes us, there will be no standing still when the season ends."

Fabio Vieira Snubbed

Hamburg have declined the option to sign Fabio Vieira permanently from Arsenal. The Portuguese midfielder, who joined the Gunners for £34 million in 2022, spent this season on loan at Hamburg, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in the Bundesliga.

The German club had an option to buy for £19.16 million, but they have turned it down. However, Hamburg are interested in a cheaper deal, reportedly willing to pay under €10 million (£8.7 million). Vieira is keen on a permanent move to Germany, and further talks are planned.

Vieira told reporters: "I have to be open to everything. Let’s see what happens. No matter what the future brings, I was very happy here and will be forever grateful to HSV. The club did everything for me, the support was amazing. I feel the love of the fans and the club. They all love me."

Arsenal may need to lower their asking price or find another buyer if an agreement cannot be reached.
