Teenage winger Reiss Nelson has suggested he could cut short his loan at Hoffenheim and return to Arsenal in January. The 18-year-old has impressed in the Bundesliga, scoring six goals this season, and his comments have fuelled speculation about an early comeback.
Speaking to the BBC, Nelson said: "Arsenal are my boyhood club. I've been with them since I was eight. I just want to go back there stronger." He added that a few more months or a year in Germany would give him the confidence to succeed at the Emirates.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery remained non-committal when asked about Nelson's potential return. "At the moment we don't speak about that," Emery said. "We are very happy with him. We follow him every match. We are thinking how he can help us in the future."
Nelson made 15 appearances for Arsenal last season under Arsene Wenger but opted to join Hoffenheim after seeing his friend Jadon Sancho thrive at Borussia Dortmund. He signed a new contract with Arsenal before the loan move.
The winger is determined to become an Arsenal legend and represent England. "I want to be an Arsenal legend. And, for England, it's the best. You can't beat playing for your country," he said.
