Warzone Season 5 Reloaded: Black Ops Royale returns in mid-season DLC

Activision is set to release a major update for Call of Duty Black Ops 7 and Warzone as part of the Season 5 Reloaded mid-season content drop. The update arrives on August 20 at 5pm BST across PlayStation, Xbox and PC, just ahead of the Call of Duty Next event and early access beta.

Black Ops Royale returns to Warzone

Warzone fans can expect the return of Black Ops Royale, a Blackout-inspired Battle Royale mode that removes Loadouts, the Gulag, and Buy Stations. Instead, players must scavenge weapons, hunt for Attachment Kits, and survive to the end. Activision describes the mode: "Featuring a variety of enhanced objectives, dangerous zones with hallucinated zombie hordes, and only two ways to redeploy into battle, Black Ops Royale keeps the action varied and fast paced in a survival setting where the last squad standing wins."

New multiplayer map and gameplay features

Black Ops 7 players will get a new multiplayer map set inside a pinball machine, complete with bumpers, ramps and targets. A new Freerun obstacle course also launches, where players earn rewards by completing mobility challenges across seven zones. In Warzone, the Loaded Resurgence LTM will be available for the next weekend. New gameplay features include Most Wanted Contracts, which reward the Quickdrop Kit that reduces redeploy time in Resurgence, and Special Delivery Drones that offer Weapon Camos when shot down and secured.

Patch notes: gameplay and bug fixes

In Battle Royale and Resurgence, Special Delivery Drones can be identified and shot down for a Camo Case. Securing the case permanently unlocks the associated Weapon Camo, with holders marked on the Tac Map and cases stealable. Two Weapon Camos are available: "Heavy Metal" for Battle Royale and "War Machine" for Resurgence. The Quickdrop Kit, earned by completing a Most Wanted Contract in Resurgence, permanently reduces the Resurgence countdown for the entire squad by up to 45%, with the first kit offering 15%, second 30%, and third 45% (max). When a teammate buys a player back, the redeploying player is now more likely to respawn near the purchasing teammate if in a safe location. The Survivor Perk now blocks the burning effect of Incendiary Rounds. Bug fixes address issues including the M10 Breacher neck multiplier doing less damage than intended, Incendiary Rounds visual effects lingering, the Surveyor Perk description missing thermal optics and tracking equipment immunity, controller issues in Black Ops Royale, legacy items not usable in Warzone, Recon Contracts rewarding Munitions Boxes instead of Utility Boxes, the Heartbeat Sensor's maximum detection range incorrectly capped at 15 meters instead of 60, Smoke Grenades dropping at the Operator's feet, and the Missile Launcher Vehicle becoming stuck during Champion's Quest.
