I Make Starbucks Iced Coffee at Home Without a Blender

Vita Molyneux, a travel reporter, has perfected a homemade version of Starbucks' popular Iced Brown Sugar Oat Shaken Espresso that requires no blender or specialty syrups. With Britain enduring a heatwave where temperatures have reached nearly 40C, this refreshing coffee alternative has become a morning staple.

Why Homemade Beats the Coffee Shop

According to Molyneux, the homemade version is superior to the Starbucks original. It costs a fraction of the price, has a stronger coffee flavor, and is less sugary. The recipe uses simple ingredients: coffee, ice, sugar, milk, and a cocktail shaker.

Ingredients and Method

Ingredients include two teaspoons of light brown sugar, two shots of espresso (or half a cup of coffee brewed in a Moka pot), three-quarters of a cup of oat milk (or any preferred milk), and one cup of ice. Optional additions include cinnamon and whipped cream.

To prepare, brew the coffee and load a cocktail shaker with ice, then pour the oat milk on top. In a separate mug, mix the brown sugar with the brewed coffee until dissolved. Add this mixture to the shaker, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for about two minutes. Pour over fresh ice in a tall glass and optionally top with whipped cream or cinnamon.

Perfect for Heatwave Mornings

Molyneux notes that when her day starts at 27C and climbs higher, regular hot coffee is not an option. This iced coffee provides a refreshing and satisfying alternative without the need for expensive equipment or artificial syrups.
