Holly Willoughby's Together series debuts with Stanley Tucci
Holly Willoughby's new YouTube series Together has launched, with the first episode featuring actor Stanley Tucci. The pair attempted to cook a pasta dish while chatting, but the relaxed pace led to a 50-minute episode that some viewers might find too long for a simple recipe.
The show opens with Willoughby swearing, saying she “f**king love[s]” Tucci, marking a departure from her daytime TV persona. The kitchen set-up includes wine and beer, creating a casual atmosphere reminiscent of BBC's Saturday Kitchen but with more intimate chat.
Cooking and conversation don't always mix
The recipe, a straightforward pasta dish, required chopping courgettes, which interrupted the flow of conversation. At one point, the pair became so engrossed in chat that they forgot to put the pasta on. Willoughby's husband Dan, part of the crew, interacted on set, adding to the organic feel.
Willoughby shared personal anecdotes: her mum is a bad cook, so she didn't learn from her; her husband Dan snaps pasta to fit in the pan, which disgusted Tucci. She also revealed she used to get bad hangovers from white wine, loves Greggs sausage rolls, and makes flavoured vodka in her dishwasher.
A relaxed start but room for improvement
The episode deliberately adopts a laid-back approach, but with only one guest, the conversation could benefit from tighter editing or multiple guests in future. Willoughby, new to hosting her own show, may become slicker with practice. The series launches with two episodes per week on YouTube and other platforms.
Overall, the first show feels a bit “vanilla” and could use more flavour. As Willoughby and the crew pull things together, future episodes may offer a fairer assessment of the project.
