World Cup 2026 Ticket Prices Plummet Amid Fan Outrage

Ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup continue to drop, sparking fury among fans as the cost of a seat for the match between Jordan and Algeria recently fell below $100. FIFA and its president, Gianni Infantino, have been accused by Football Supporters Europe of a 'monumental betrayal' over pricing for this summer's tournament, which will be held in Mexico, Canada, and the United States.

Trump Voices Concern

Even former US President Donald Trump has expressed concern, admitting he 'wouldn't pay it either' after learning that tickets for the USA's opening game against Paraguay were priced at over $1,000. FIFA's controversial dynamic pricing model has caused significant fluctuations, with prices dropping notably in recent weeks.

Price Drops and Cheapest Games

According to TicketData, which tracks 91 of the 104 matches, there has been a 22 percent decrease in prices over the past 30 days. As of now, the cheapest game is Jordan vs. Algeria in San Francisco on June 22, with tickets available for $120 on SeatSidekick. This is up $22 from last weekend when screenshots showed tickets as low as $98. However, some seats at Levi's Stadium remain priced at $19,550. Other matches with the cheapest tickets below $165 include Cape Verde vs. Saudi Arabia and the 'Pride Match' between Egypt and Iran.

Infantino Defends Pricing

Infantino recently defended the costs, stating FIFA is 'applying market rates.' He argued that despite criticism, tickets often resell at even higher prices. However, FIFA tripled the cost of 'category 1' tickets for the final at MetLife Stadium to $32,970. Last month, some tickets for the July 19 final were listed for nearly $2.3 million each on FIFA's official resale platform. Infantino jokingly offered to personally deliver a hotdog and Coke to anyone buying a $2 million ticket.

With 7 million tickets available across 104 games, FIFA claims to have received over 500 million requests.
