Tesco six-digit Clubcard code reveals deal expiry dates

Shoppers at Tesco are learning about a six-digit code that appears on Clubcard price signs and reveals when a discount is due to end. Money-saving expert Jordon Cox, known as the Coupon King, shared the tip in a recent Instagram reel posted to his 383,000 followers.

In the video, filmed inside a Tesco store, Cox points to a sign advertising a Clubcard price and explains: "There's a code in Tesco that'll save you money." He highlights the six-digit code displayed on the sign and adds: "On an item with a Clubcard price, look for this."

How the code works

Cox breaks down the code's meaning: "The last two digits are the day, the middle two are the month, and the first two are the year when the deal expires." He advises: "So you now know when to stock up before the price goes up."

In the comments section, Cox adds: "Most Tesco deals expire on a Tuesday too by the way... stock up if you're a weekend shopper!" The tip attracted more than 5,000 likes, with one follower commenting "Good tip" and another saying "Well done for breaking that code."

Mixed reactions from shoppers

Not all viewers were convinced. One sceptic questioned: "How does this save you money? That's the price until the end date. You're just highlighting the end date. It's not a hack or cheat. Really grabbing at straws here." Another unimpressed viewer remarked: "Everyone knows that already."

Cox, who regularly shares budgeting advice on ITV's This Morning, recently advised customers to avoid visiting Aldi or Lidl on certain days, warning they are "missing out on all the best bargains."
