Experts have revealed that spring cleaning is now considered one of the biggest achievements of the year for many people, leading to the creation of a unique sparkling wine served from a novelty vacuum cleaner. The study, conducted by AO, found that half of respondents place the annual clean-up high on their list of accomplishments, sparking feelings of satisfaction, pride, and joy.

Sparkling House Wine, a limited-edition dry blend launched by AO in partnership with Ryedale Vineyards in York, comes in a vacuum-cleaner holder-pourer complete with handle, hose, wheels, and a vacuum-inspired pouring attachment. This innovative product responds to research showing that more than half of people toast the end of a spring clean with wine, turning a mundane task into a celebratory event.
Feelings of Accomplishment Comparable to Major Life Events
The study highlights that the sense of achievement from completing a spring clean is often compared to significant life moments. Many respondents equated the feeling to watching their favourite sports team win, landing a new job, purchasing a new car, or even witnessing their baby's first steps. This underscores the emotional weight people attach to this annual ritual.
Preparation and Effort Involved in Spring Cleaning
Nearly a quarter of those surveyed begin preparing for their spring clean one to three months in advance, demonstrating the level of planning involved. While most people complete the task in a single day, a quarter require several days to finish the job. Additionally, almost a third of respondents engage in exercise beforehand to build the strength and stamina needed for the intensive cleaning process.

Isabella Forgione, small appliance expert at AO, commented on the findings, stating, "Spring Cleaning doesn't have to feel overwhelming. A little planning goes a long way - whether that's mapping out a cleaning route, stocking up on supplies or making sure you have the right appliances to get the job done." Her advice emphasises that with proper preparation, the task can be both efficient and rewarding.

A limited number of bottles of Sparkling House Wine will be available exclusively via Ryedale's website starting March 18. This launch capitalises on the trend of celebrating domestic achievements, offering a playful and memorable way to mark the completion of spring cleaning.
