Shein has pledged to cooperate with French prosecutors investigating the sale of childlike sex dolls on its platform. The e-commerce giant's spokesperson in France, Quentin Ruffat, confirmed the company is prepared to share names of buyers.
"We will be completely transparent with the authorities. If they ask us to do so, we will comply," Ruffat told RMC radio. Shein announced a global ban on sex dolls after removing listings that resembled children.
Executive chair Donald Tang took personal responsibility, noting the products came from third-party vendors. The Paris prosecutors' office opened investigations against Shein and other online retailers following a report by France's anti-fraud unit.
France has fined Shein three times in 2025 totalling 191m euros for breaches including false advertising and non-compliance with online cookie laws. The European Commission is also investigating the company over allegedly illegal products.
Shein is due to open its first physical store in central Paris, despite outrage over the doll sales. The store, in the BHV Marais department store, will only sell clothes and items designed directly by Shein for the retailer.
