Santander has announced it will provide £180 payments to qualifying customers. The offer is available to certain customers aged between 18 and 73, although additional criteria must also be satisfied.
Who Can Claim the £180 Bonus?
Bank customers need to switch to the Santander Edge Explorer current account via the Current Account Switch Service (CASS). The free service efficiently transfers any balance, direct debits and payees to the new account within seven days. Santander added that you won't qualify for the bonus if you held a Santander current account on January 1, 2025, or if you've previously received a Santander switcher incentive.

The Edge Explorer account carries a £17 monthly charge. However, it also provides worldwide travel insurance for you and your family, plus 24/7 remote GP access in the UK for you and your family. Additional benefits include UK and European breakdown cover, mobile phone insurance for you and your family, and no charges for using your debit card overseas. Furthermore, you can receive 1% cashback on selected household bills and 1% cashback at supermarkets and on travel expenses - each capped at £10 per month. You'll also gain exclusive access to the Santander Edge saver account which offers 6% AER interest on balances up to £4,000.
How to Claim the £180
To claim the £180, you'll need to open a Santander Edge Explorer current account and request a switch before the offer ends. Ensure the information you provide to Santander matches that held at your previous bank. Then, finalise the switch within 60 days of your request, deposit £1,500, and maintain at least two active selected household Direct Debits to qualify for the payment. To open an account, you must be aged 18-73 and resident in the UK. For joint accounts, both applicants must live at the same address.
