OVO opens applications for free heated throws and white goods

OVO Energy has opened applications for its special assistance package, which includes free heated pads, heated throws, rechargeable hot water bottles and smart plugs, as well as replacement white goods. The support is available to customers struggling with their energy bills.

The package is being delivered across the UK and includes free energy-saving products, financial support, debt relief and advice, income maximisation and access to Lightning Reach, a platform connecting customers with support from 2,500 organisations offering financial advice.

What the package includes

Free energy-saving products include rechargeable hot water bottles, thermos flasks, heat pads, LED light bulbs, smart plugs and replacement white goods. Heated throws, which cost approximately 3p per hour to run, are also available.

Financial support includes direct credit top-ups of £150, in addition to eligible customers' Warm Home Discount, and extended repayment plans. OVO's specialist teams work with customers on a one-to-one basis to tailor a package to their individual circumstances, which could save customers up to £300 a year.

Eligibility and application

OVO states that support is "subject to eligibility". Applications for products including hot water bottles, thermos flasks, heat pads, LED light bulbs, smart plugs and replacement white goods are available to apply for from November 2. The company notes that applications for this year's enhanced winter support are now open.

Laura Bradley, Warm Home Discount Lead at OVO, said: "We know that this time of year brings immense pressure to households up and down the country. That's why we're committed to not just offering short-term relief, but delivering deep, targeted support that makes a lasting difference."

OVO added: "If you think you'll struggle to pay your bills and you're an OVO customer, then you might be eligible. It doesn't take long to apply for support and you'll get your answer right away. When you apply for support, things like household income, any disposable income, and medical needs will be taken into account – to help prioritise those who need help most."
