October 2026 UK product recalls: eggs, flapjacks, more

October 2026 saw a wide range of product recalls across UK supermarkets and shops, affecting everything from eggs and flapjacks to hiking boots and Halloween decorations. The notices cover both food items that could pose health risks and non-food products that may cause injury.

Recall notices are issued when a product could cause harm to consumers, whether through hazardous contamination or mislabeled allergy information. Anyone who has bought an affected product is advised to return it to the point of purchase for a full refund.

Food recalls: allergens and contamination

Full On Flapjacks issued a recall across all pack sizes and all sell-by dates due to undeclared allergens. The affected products include Bakewell Flapjack (containing almonds, soya and wheat gluten), Raspberry Yoghurt Flapjack, White Chocolate Flapjack, Blueberry Swirl Flapjack and Caramel Flapjack, all containing soya and wheat gluten.

In a statement, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) said: "Full On Flapjacks is recalling the above products from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The business has issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products."

Halo Foods Limited recalled Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars because of undeclared peanuts, as the contents were mispacked in Skinny Whip Toffee bar wrappers that do not declare peanuts as an ingredient. The bars were supplied to selected Sainsbury's stores in England and selected Asda stores in England and Scotland.

Asda said: "The product is being recalled because it may contain undeclared peanut allergen. Although the outer packaging and bars are correct, the individual bar wrapper inside states toffee whip bars with incorrect allergens. This means the product may present a risk to consumers, particularly those who are allergic to peanuts. If you have purchased Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Bars please bring them back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused."

Egg recall and other supermarket alerts

Waitrose recalled its Tuna Pâté due to a labelling error, with the supermarket stating: "We are recalling Waitrose Tuna Pâté due to incorrect date code. Do not consume, package up item, return the product to your local Waitrose & Partners branch for a refund." The FSA added that the product is labelled with an incorrect use-by date of 17 December 2026, making it unsafe to eat after the correct use-by date of 17 October 2026.

The FSA also announced a major recall of eggs across the UK after imported eggs were identified as containing Salmonella. Shell eggs originating from Yasensvit Ltd, Ukraine, stamped with the code 3UA1012066, were the focus of the recall. Jacquelyn McCormick, Head of Incidents at the FSA, said: "We have identified Salmonella Enteritidis in eggs that were imported from a business in Ukraine and taken urgent action to protect public health and advised that any affected product on the UK market is withdrawn and recalled. It is important to say however that eggs produced in the UK are not affected."

M&S recalled three products this month: M&S Super Nutty Wholefood with a Soy & Ginger Dressing, M&S Nutrient Dense Nutty Super Wholefood, and M&S Fresh Collection Pistachio Pesto. In its warning notice, M&S said: "In the abundance of caution, Greencore is recalling some pistachio products due to the possible presence of Salmonella. Customer safety is of paramount importance to Marks & Spencer and we take food safety extremely seriously. Please do not consume this product. Any customers in possession of these products can return it to their nearest store where a full refund will be given."

Tesco sold two Pinch rice dishes that were under recall due to possible Salmonella. The FSA advised: "If you have bought the above product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store where you purchased it where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt. Pinch products are sold exclusively through Tesco."

Home Bargains biscuits from Lambertz were recalled due to allergens including barley and wheat gluten, hazelnuts, milk, lactose and whey, and lecithin (soya), with the products possibly containing egg, lupin, other nuts, peanuts, and sesame. The FSA advised anyone with coeliac disease or relevant allergies not to eat them and to return them to a Home Bargains store for a full refund.

Pot Noodle recalled one batch of Piri Piri Chicken Flavour 90g due to a production error that meant it contained milk and other ingredients not declared on the packaging. The company said: "Pot Noodle is recalling one batch of Pot Noodle Piri Piri Chicken Flavour 90g because, due to a production error, it contains milk (an allergen) and other ingredients that are not declared in the ingredients list on the packaging. While milk is listed as a precautionary 'may contain' ingredient on the packaging, this could pose a safety risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk."

PepsiCo recalled Walkers Variety Snacks Sharing Box 655g because the Monster Munch Giants Roast Beef 85g pack inside contains wheat (gluten) which is not declared on the outer packaging. The company stated: "Walkers Variety Snacks Sharing Box 655g is being recalled because wheat is not declared on the outer box. The outer box does not have the correct ingredients or allergy information for the Monster Munch Giants Roast Beef 85g. The box does not say that this product contains wheat, so it may pose a risk to people with an allergy or intolerance wheat or with coeliac disease. Please note: the individual bags inside the box are correctly labelled."

Non-food recalls: shoes, decorations and more

Next recalled a pair of light tan and brown wedge sandals with model numbers Y79431 and Y79434. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) said: "The products present a risk of injuries as it has been identified that the footbed can become dislodged from the wedge heel. If the footbed unexpectedly became dislodged during use, the user could fall leading to injuries. The products do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005."

Asda recalled men's hiker boots and shoes, coloured grey or khaki, priced at £28 for shoes and £36 for boots. The OPSS stated: "The product presents a serious chemical risk because testing identified the presence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), including perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), above the permitted regulatory limit. Prolonged exposure to these substances may pose a risk to human health and may cause damage to the reproductive system."

Primark issued an urgent recall of two Halloween gonk decorations over concerns they may be contaminated with asbestos. The decorations, one featuring a pumpkin hat and the other a witch hat with grey hair, carry model numbers 991174794 and 991179148 and barcodes 212047125 and 212080261. The OPSS stated: "The products present a risk to health as the sand sealed inside the gonks may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos. Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a risk to health even at low levels of exposure. We recommend owners stop using the product immediately and keep out of the reach of children."

Tesco recalled the F&F Glass Latte Mug, which may shatter during use, for mugs bought between September 2025 and August 2026. The supermarket said: "As a precautionary measure, Tesco is recalling all batches of its F&F Home Glass Latte Mug purchased between September 2025 to August 2026 inclusive. This is due to a manufacturing issue that may cause the glass mug to break during normal use, posing a risk of injury."

The Asda Kidz Pop Up Bear Tent was also recalled as it poses a risk of entrapment. The OPSS stated: "The product presents a risk of entrapment because the zip closure may allow a user to become trapped during use. The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011. We recommend that consumers stop using the products immediately and keep out of reach of children. Return the products to any ASDA store for a full refund."
