NatWest launches First Active savings account with 4.5% rate

NatWest has unveiled a new savings account, First Active, designed for customers who manage their finances online. The account offers a competitive 4.5% instant access savings rate and can be opened in minutes with as little as £1. The bank says the digital-first proposition aims to expand choice for UK savers.

Features and Flexibility

First Active allows customers to add or withdraw money online at any time without fees or restrictions. Savers can deposit between £1 and £1 million. The account is tailored to the modern saver seeking flexibility and control.

Research cited by the bank shows a shift in savings preferences. Among those surveyed, 53% prioritised easy access to their money, 49% said it gave them greater control, and 37% appreciated the flexibility.

Broader Moves

The launch follows NatWest's recent partnership with insurance technology platform Uinsure to introduce a new home insurance offer. The service provides home insurance quotes in under 60 seconds, with a panel of leading UK insurers competing on price for the same Defaqto 5 Star Rated cover.

Toni Powling, Head of Insurance at NatWest, said: "Alongside providing quality cover at a competitive price with a quote in seconds, the Home Insurance Tracker means our customers no longer have to keep checking whether they're getting a fair deal, because we'll do it for them, even if their cover isn't with us. As a bank that supports one in three UK families, we understand the importance of making everyday financial decisions simpler. The Home Insurance Tracker makes insurance genuinely simple to manage."
