Metallica Donates £20,000 to Cardiff Homeless Charity

Metallica have made a hefty donation to a second Welsh charity after the heavy metal band broke the record for Wales' biggest ever live music event. After a £20,000 donation to the Cardiff Foodbank, it has now been announced they donated a further £20,000 to Welsh homelessness charity Llamau.

Record-Breaking Concert

76,000 fans poured into the Principality Stadium on Sunday night, breaking the record which was previously held by Ed Sheeran after his sell-out show attracted 75,000 in 2022. Before then the record was held by U2 whose 360° tour broke records with 73,354 fans in attendance.

Charitable Donations

The huge donation was provided through the band's charitable foundation All Within My Hands. It was previously announced they had donated £20,000 to the Cardiff Foodbank, which the charity say would be enough money to feed 1,000 people or buy 9,000 meals. The donation came just weeks after the charity said they had never seen their warehouse so empty.

Sam Austin, Chief Executive Officer at Llamau, said the generous donation would make a real difference in supporting women and children facing homelessness across Cardiff and wider Wales. Sam said: "We are incredibly grateful to Metallica and All Within My Hands for choosing to support Llamau during their visit to Cardiff. This generous donation will make a real difference to women and children facing homelessness across Wales, helping us provide safe spaces, practical support and pathways to a more stable future."
