MAFS UK Cast Member Arrested on Suspicion of Rape

A cast member from the reality television show Married at First Sight UK (MAFS) has been arrested on suspicion of rape, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed. The arrest follows allegations made by three women in a BBC Panorama documentary aired in May, in which two women claimed they were raped and a third alleged sexual misconduct by their on-screen husbands. All three men deny the claims.

Police Confirm Arrest and Bail

The Metropolitan Police told BBC News that a man was arrested in June on suspicion of rape. In a statement, the force said: “This relates to an ongoing investigation, being led by the Met Police. He has since been bailed while enquiries remain ongoing.” Neither the arrested man nor the alleged victim can be named for legal reasons.

Background of the Allegations

The allegations were first brought to light in the Panorama documentary, which examined the experiences of female participants on the show. The programme prompted Channel 4 to pull all episodes of Married at First Sight UK from its streaming service, just hours before the documentary was broadcast in May. The broadcaster has not yet decided whether to air the latest season, which has already been filmed.
