A mechanic has identified Toyota as the car brand that "never needs repairs" when reliability is a top priority. Robert Hannah, who owns East Kilbride Autocare in South Lanarkshire, praised the Japanese manufacturer over flashier alternatives.
Mechanic's top recommendation
Mr Hannah specifically highlighted the Toyota Yaris petrol hybrid as his top recommendation. He noted that Toyotas are "cheap to run and fairly cheap to purchase".
Fellow mechanic Charlie Sterrett from Northern Ireland also backs Toyota, favouring the automatic Aygo with annual servicing.
Head-to-head comparison
Car expert Christopher Sharp recently tested a Yaris against a Vauxhall Corsa in a head-to-head comparison. The Toyota proved superior on twisting roads, hugging the tarmac better than its rival.
However, Sharp noted the Toyota's stiffer build makes it more vulnerable to potholes compared to the softer Vauxhall.
