Martin Lewis Urges Drivers to Use App for Cheaper Petrol as Prices Soar

Martin Lewis's MoneySavingExpert (MSE) has advised drivers to use a smartphone app to find cheaper petrol as fuel prices continue to rise. The call comes amid a 23% increase in diesel prices since the start of the Middle East conflict, according to recent figures.

The MSE team recommends using apps like PetrolPrices to compare fuel costs at nearby stations, potentially saving motorists up to 10p per litre. The app allows users to search for the cheapest petrol and diesel in their area, helping them cut costs during the ongoing price surge.

Lewis highlighted that the price hike is hitting drivers hard, with many struggling to afford the increased costs. He emphasised that using such apps can make a significant difference, especially for those who need to fill up regularly.

The advice comes as part of MSE's ongoing efforts to help consumers save money amid rising living costs. The team also suggests checking for supermarket fuel vouchers and loyalty schemes to further reduce expenses.
