Finance expert Martin Lewis has issued a warning to anyone who wants to book cheap flights for next summer. Schools in the UK have broken up for the summer holidays, with airports preparing for the busiest period of the year as thousands of families prepare to jet off abroad.
For those hoping to get ahead and prepare for next year's holidays, Money Saving Expert founder Martin Lewis has taken to social media to warn holidaymakers that thousands of flights for summer 2027 are set to be released by easyJet on Tuesday, July 28.
Dynamic pricing and early booking
Mr Lewis has advised that easyJet uses dynamic pricing, meaning the more demand, the higher the prices go. Due to this, the financial journalist advised that low demand is expected at the time of release, making them more likely to be lower in price.
"This is an urgent warning for anyone who wants to try and bag cheap flights for summer 2027," Mr Lewis says in a video shared on X, formerly Twitter. "That's because tomorrow morning - Tuesday 28 July - is an easyJet flight release day. Now, easyJet has a rather interesting system for pricing its flights - dynamic pricing - which means that the price depends on the demand. More demand, the more you pay. So the most predictable time to get cheap flights is exactly the moment it releases. And that is happening tomorrow. There are nearly 14 million seats being released across 78,000 flights."
Mr Lewis went on to say that easyJet has not confirmed the exact time the flights will be released on Tuesday, but from past experience, he says it can be as early as 5am or it can be spread throughout the morning. He added: "This is not a definitive 'you will definitely get a cheap flight', this is just something to look at and try. And if you do want to try you have to get up early, I'm afraid. So prepare your dates, your routes, your passenger and your luggage details. Make sure you have compared elsewhere. The release price isn't guaranteed the cheapest."
Travel insurance advice
Earlier this month, Martin Lewis issued a warning to Brits with a European holiday booked this summer, as he issued his verdict on buying travel insurance. He urged all holidaymakers to make sure they have travel insurance booked before jetting off this summer, adding: "If you can afford the holiday, you can afford travel insurance."
Lewis suggests a person around the age of 18 can get travel insurance for a weeks holiday in Europe for as little as £7, at the bottom level. He warned: "Get your travel insurance ASAB - as soon as you book - because half the purpose of travel insurance is it covers you before you go away in case something happens before you go away that stops you going away so that you're covered. The honest answer is there are so many things, if you were to get ill and need serious treatment, if you needed bringing back home [there are] lots and lots of issues that can happen when you're on holiday. If you were to get ill beforehand so you couldn't go, I think for the sake of £7 if you're going abroad which will be the type of price - £7 to £10 - depending where you're going, for a week away in Europe."
