Scottish independent brand Loch Electronics has seen a surge in popularity for its no-plumbing dishwashers, particularly among flat and rental dwellers. The Capsule Solo, priced at £349.99, is designed exclusively for non-plumbed use, while the original Capsule model (£399.99) can also connect to plumbing if desired.
Both models are claimed to be the most energy-efficient compact dishwashers on the market, costing around £10 per year to run for a typical two-person household. They feature a stainless steel interior, wash and dry dishes in as little as 15 minutes, and consume just 2.6 litres per quick cycle—up to four times less water than washing by hand.
The compact units measure 46 cm high, 26 cm wide, and 50 cm deep, making them the narrowest dishwashers available, according to Loch. They can be placed on a worktop, inside a base unit, or moved between rooms thanks to an integrated carry handle and optional travel bag.
The original Capsule includes UV light sanitation, rinse aid compatibility, 10 wash programmes, and a three-stage debris filter. The Capsule Solo omits these features for a simpler, budget-friendly option. Both operate at a quiet 57 dB and hold up to 35 items using dual trays, including large plates and full-sized frying pans.
