Research on Healthy Eating Costs
Research commissioned by Lidl found that almost seven in 10 Brits believe healthy eating is more expensive than alternatives. Richard Bourns, chief commercial officer at Lidl GB, said: "Our research shows people want to make healthier and more sustainable choices for the planet, but often affordability stands in the way."
£25 Voucher Prize Draw
Lidl is also running a prize draw giving away £25 vouchers. Entries close at midnight on Tuesday, July 28, according to The Sun. Thousands of customers have a chance of winning by completing a form online.
Expansion Plans
Lidl announced in April that it expects to open 50 new stores over the next 12 months, creating close to 2,000 jobs. New stores include locations in Abbots Langley, Warrington, and Thornbury opening this summer. The retailer will set aside a tenth of interviews at new UK shops for people who have been out of work for at least six months. The scheme aims to level the playing field and tackle employment barriers. Interview slots will be ringfenced for entry-level roles at every new shop, alongside at least 480 slots across its 13 warehouses. Candidates will be fast-tracked without needing a CV. Lidl works with local employability partners including the Department for Work and Pensions and its Restart scheme.
