Jet2 customers can secure additional cabin bag allowance in two particular circumstances, potentially saving money on baggage fees. The package holiday provider is one of the more generous when it comes to bag allowance, but a little extra free space never goes amiss.
Standard Jet2 Baggage Policy
Under normal conditions, Jet2 allows customers to bring one large cabin bag weighing up to 10kg and one small personal item that must fit under the seat. If the bag is too large or heavy, passengers may be charged £45 per item at the airport to place it in the hold. Overweight baggage is charged at £12 per kg.
Free Extra Bag for Weddings
When booking a Jet2 wedding, customers are afforded an extra cabin bag for no extra charge. The company's policy states: "As part of your Jet2Weddings booking, you’ll receive free Guaranteed Cabin Luggage, which means you can carry your wedding dress with you as hand luggage and be certain of keeping it with you. This would need to have a maximum weight of 10kg and be no larger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm, including any wheels and handles."
Medical Equipment Allowance
Jet2 also lets certain passengers bring an extra bag onboard for medical necessities. "Medical equipment can be brought onboard, in addition to your standard hand luggage allowance, but it must be no larger than 56 x 45 x 25cm, otherwise it will have to be placed in the hold," the Jet2 website explains. "Small portable medical devices, such as CPAP machines, TENS machines, nebulisers, and portable dialysis machines, may be carried in addition to your standard hand luggage allowance as long as it’s no larger than 56 x 45 x 25 cm and you have informed our Assisted Travel Team at least 48 hours before your flight." If carrying non-essential medical equipment that exceeds the allowance, it will be subject to standard baggage policy and may need to be placed in the hold. For multiple devices or large equipment, passengers should contact the Assisted Travel team at least 48 hours before departure.
Strike Warning for Four Destinations
In other Jet2 news, the airline issued a warning to holidaymakers travelling to and from four popular Italian destinations. On Monday, the airline announced: "We wanted to let you know about strike action, supported by ACC Roma, an Italian Air Traffic Control company, which is taking place from 09:00 to 17:00 (local time) on Monday 11th May 2026, which may cause delays to flights arriving and departing Rome, Naples, Pisa, and Venice." Jet2 added that it is doing its best to keep any disruption to a minimum. Passengers should note that check-in desks close 40 minutes before scheduled departure, and travellers are urged to arrive at the airport no later than two hours before their flight. The airline continued: "We will be working hard to ensure that the impact on our flights is minimal, however, you may encounter some disruption if you are travelling during this time. Please be prepared for possible longer than normal waits onboard your aircraft to depart. We will board all flights and close all gates for an on-time departure, this will allow us to depart as soon as we are advised we can. Please make sure your contact details are up to date in Manage My Booking, and if the situation changes, our team will be in touch."
