Discount retailer Home Bargains has issued a recall notice for a packet of crisps sold in its stores. The product, Lay's Sour Cream & Dill Crisps, is being recalled because it contains milk and wheat (gluten) which are not mentioned on the label.
The recall covers the 125g pack size with all best before dates up to and including October 31, 2026. In a statement, Home Bargains said: "ASR Solutions Ltd is recalling Lay's Sour Cream & Dill Crisps 125g sold through Home Bargains stores as the product contains milk and wheat which is not mentioned on the label. This means this product is a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk and wheat."
Customer advice
Home Bargains advised anyone who has bought the crisps and has an allergy, intolerance or sensitivity to milk or wheat not to consume them. Affected customers can return the product to their local store for a full refund or contact support@home.bargains for more information. The retailer added: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has also shared the recall notice and told anyone with an allergy "do not eat it".
Another recall over undeclared wheat
Just last month, the FSA issued another recall alert over an allergy risk in Minton and Donello Organic White Orzo. The product contains wheat (gluten), which is not declared on its label or within its list of ingredients. The packaging also describes the product as "Orzo White Rice", despite orzo being a form of pasta.
The FSA said: "This product contains wheat making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten or with coeliac disease."
The recall covers the 500g pack size with batch codes 78850, 78850 and 78850 and best before dates of January 31, May 2 and May 24, 2027. A point-of-sale notice has been put in place and Dundeis UK has notified relevant allergy support organisations to ensure their members are informed of the recall.
The FSA further advised: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten or with coeliac disease, do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund."
Minton and Donello products are stocked at Tesco, Ocado, Amazon and Planet Organic, with the recall covering England and Wales only.
