The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued an allergy alert for Lay's Sour Cream & Dill Crisps sold in Home Bargains stores across the UK. ASR Solutions Ltd is recalling the 125g packets after it was found that they contain milk and wheat (gluten) that are not mentioned on the label.
The recall affects all best before dates up to and including October 31, 2026. The undeclared ingredients mean the crisps pose a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, wheat or gluten, or to people with coeliac disease.
Recall notice from ASR Solutions Ltd
In a recall notice to customers, ASR Solutions Ltd said: "ASR Solutions Ltd is recalling Lay's Sour Cream & Dill Crisps 125g sold through Home Bargains stores as the product contains milk and wheat which is not mentioned on the label."
The company advised anyone who has bought the crisps and has an allergy, intolerance or sensitivity to milk or wheat not to consume them. It asked customers to check whether the best before date on their packet is among the affected codes, and to return any affected product to their local Home Bargains store for a full refund or contact support@home.bargains for further information.
What the Food Standards Agency says
The FSA reiterated: "If you have bought this product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from which you bought the product for a full refund or contact support@home.bargains if you require further information. Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold. Then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product). Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk. When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert."
