As temperatures soared above 25°C this week, I found myself doing what many Brits do: complaining about the heat while refusing to install air conditioning. So when Dyson launched its new Find+Follow Purifier Cool fan, I decided to put its £549.99 price tag to the test.
At first glance, the fan looks similar to Dyson's other bladeless models, but it comes with a major upgrade: Find+Follow technology. This allows the fan to detect your position in the room and direct purified airflow towards you, even as you move. I was sceptical, but after a week of testing during the heatwave, I can confirm it made a noticeable difference to my sleep.
I tested the fan at bedtime. Instead of blasting air in one fixed direction, it subtly tracked my movements as I shifted around the bed. I'm prone to tossing and turning, so this meant I didn't have to constantly adjust the fan or wake up feeling stuffy. The fan was also remarkably quiet, especially in Sleep mode, which dims the display and reduces noise—perfect for light-sensitive sleepers like me and my partner.
The cooling performance was excellent, better than my previous Dyson Purifier HEPA Cool Formaldehyde fan. Dyson claims it delivers over 290 litres of air per second, and my bedroom felt noticeably more comfortable during the sticky nights. The purification element is equally impressive: the Find+Follow continuously monitors air quality and uses a fully sealed HEPA H13 filtration system to capture allergens, dust, pet dander, and airborne particles. As someone living in central London, I appreciate the peace of mind this provides.
One of my favourite features is the fan's intelligence. If you leave the room, it stops directing airflow towards you but continues purifying. If no one returns after an hour, it switches to auto mode to conserve energy. Is £549.99 a lot for a fan? Absolutely. But it's more than just a fan—it's a cooling system, air purifier, and smart home gadget. After a week of testing, I can say it's one of the few products that has made a real difference to my sleep, and that's worth its weight in gold.
