Police are investigating the death of a five-year-old boy in Australia after a "house of horrors" was discovered. The boy, aged 5, was found unresponsive inside his family's home in New South Wales (NSW) on Monday. Police were called to the home at around 6.40am and despite all efforts the little boy could not be revived.
Allegations of duct-taping
NSW Police have launched a major investigation into the child's death following the discovery that he and his siblings were duct-taped into sleeping bags. They had tape placed over their eyes at night, it has been reported.
The boy, who had intellectual disabilities, was allegedly duct-taped around his head and officers were told it was to help him sleep. Investigators have interviewed the boy's father and stepmother, and possible charges will be considered following a post-mortem examination on the child's body.
Investigation and response
Homicide Squad and Child Abuse Squad detectives have joined local investigators at the crime scene as part of Strike Force Milona to oversee inquiries into how the boy died. The NSW Department of Communities and Justice is also investigating.
Police officers were called to the home in 2025 and concerns were raised over what was occurring in the residence, according to reports. The boy's siblings have been moved to live with other relatives. Police have not confirmed any arrests have been made but have said the investigation is ongoing.
