A cleaning influencer known as Mama Mila has shared a simple homemade spray that removes fingerprints and grease from glass and stainless steel surfaces. The solution uses water, dishwasher rinse aid, white vinegar, and rubbing alcohol.
How to Make the Cleaning Solution
Combine one cup of water with one tablespoon of rinse aid, along with white vinegar and rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture onto bathroom glass screens and stainless steel appliances, such as microwaves and fridges. Work it in with a microfibre cloth and buff dry.
When using the mixture in the bathroom, rinse the glass surface with water after applying. White vinegar is acidic and helps dissolve grease, oils, and mineral deposits. It works well on stainless steel, glass, and glossy cabinetry, breaking down residue and providing a light protective layer.
Why Each Ingredient Works
Rinse aid acts as a surfactant, lowering water's surface tension so water glides off without leaving marks. This is especially useful in hard-water areas, according to appliance manufacturer Bosch. Rubbing alcohol breaks down skin oils and evaporates quickly, preventing streaks and eliminating water spots. It also has anti-bacterial properties, making it good for sanitising surfaces.
