A cleaner has revealed a remarkably simple two-ingredient method to banish limescale from shower screens, restoring their clarity in minutes. Limescale, a common nuisance in hard water areas, forms when calcium and magnesium deposits are left behind as water evaporates, creating cloudy white stains on glass surfaces.
Shower screens are particularly susceptible to these deposits due to constant exposure to water and steam. Over time, the buildup can leave glass looking dull and grimy. However, one cleaning expert has shared a tried-and-tested technique to tackle the problem effectively.
In a TikTok video posted by @necleaningsolutionsltd, the cleaner demonstrates a straightforward step-by-step process. The caption reads: "Limescale tips and tricks to get your shower screens looking brand new."
The Two-Ingredient Solution
The method begins by mixing two natural ingredients—white vinegar and washing-up liquid—in a 1:1 ratio. This solution is then poured into a Dishmatic cleaning tool, which is used to apply it and scrub the shower glass thoroughly.
Once the screen has been scrubbed, a non-scratch pad is gently worked over the surface to remove any remaining residue. The screen is then rinsed with water, leaving it completely free of limescale.
Maintaining the Sparkle
To prevent watermarks from returning, the cleaner recommends using a squeegee to dry the shower screen after each use. Finally, a window and glass cleaner, such as Astonish (available for around £1), is applied with kitchen roll to buff and polish the screen to a brilliant shine.
The video has garnered over 160,000 views on TikTok, with users praising the hack for its simplicity and effectiveness. One comment read: "Honestly, washing up liquid and white vinegar are the elitist cleaning products and so cheap." Another user wrote: "This absolute best," while a third described the results as "amazing."
