Amazon Baby Teething Toys Recalled After 32 Choking Incidents in US
Amazon Baby Toys Recalled After 32 Choking Incidents

A widely sold baby teething toy available through Amazon has been subject to an urgent safety recall in the United States, following dozens of alarming reports of choking incidents involving infants.

Immediate Recall Issued for Hazardous Product

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the official recall on Thursday, targeting approximately 6,800 units of the Yetonamr Pull String Teething Toys. The products were sold exclusively on Amazon.com by the Chinese seller Longyanguiheng between June and October 2025, with prices ranging from $10 to $16.

The federal agency confirmed that the toys "violate the mandatory standard for toys" due to a critical design flaw. Specifically, the silicone pull-strings attached to the toy are "smaller than permitted," creating a severe risk for young children.

Specific Design Flaw and Identified Risks

According to the CPSC's detailed hazard notice, the undersized silicone strings can easily "reach the back of the throat and become lodged." This defect poses a direct threat of respiratory distress, presents a serious choking hazard, and could potentially lead to death.

The recall was initiated after the commission received reports of 32 separate choking incidents directly linked to these specific teething toys. The product is described as an off-white, disc-shaped toy featuring a central red or blue ball, three free-spinning rings, soft push buttons, and six long, multicoloured silicone pull-strings threaded through the ball.

Consumers can identify the recalled item by the Model number 688-59 printed on the product packaging.

Urgent Instructions for Consumers

The CPSC has issued strict instructions for anyone in possession of the recalled Yetonamr toy:

  1. Stop using the product immediately.
  2. Cut and discard all silicone string tentacles.
  3. Write "DESTROYED" on the main body of the toy using a permanent marker.
  4. Email a photograph of the destroyed toy to yetonamr_recall@163.com.
  5. Contact the seller, Longyanguiheng, to arrange for a full refund.

A Pattern of Child Product Recalls

This teething toy recall is part of a concerning trend of hazardous children's products being removed from the US market in recent months. Several other items have been recalled for similar ingestion and choking dangers.

Recent High-Profile Recalls

  • KTEBO Writing Tablets: In December, over 10,000 units sold on Amazon were recalled. The CPSC warned that the screw securing the button cell battery compartment fails to remain attached, creating a risk of battery ingestion which can cause serious internal chemical burns or death.
  • Cubimana Treehouse Toy Sets: These building toys, sold via Shein, were recalled due to easily accessible battery compartments that children could open, leading to the same severe battery ingestion hazards.
  • CreateOn Crayola Pip-Cubes: Thousands of these magnetic building sets, sold through Michaels and Amazon, were recalled. The high-powered magnets inside can come loose; if swallowed, they can attract to each other or metal objects within a child's digestive system, causing intestinal perforations, blockages, blood poisoning, or death.

The consistent message from the Consumer Product Safety Commission across these recalls is a grave warning about the life-threatening dangers posed by small, ingestible components in children's toys. Parents and caregivers are urged to check their homes for any of these recalled products and follow the official disposal and refund procedures without delay.
