Netflix has quietly added the BAFTA-nominated British crime drama Prey to its UK library, and it is already climbing the most-watched charts. The series, which originally aired on ITV, stars John Simm (Grace, Doctor Who, Life on Mars) and Philip Glenister (Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes).
What Is Prey About?
The show follows Detective Sergeant Susan Reinhardt (Rosie Cavaliero), who is the only main character to appear across both series. In the first series, Reinhardt pursues Detective Constable Marcus Farrow (John Simm), a colleague wanted for the murder of his wife and son. Farrow is on the run, hoping to clear his name before Reinhardt catches him. The second series sees prison officer Dave Murdoch (Philip Glenister) receiving a call that his pregnant daughter has been kidnapped; he must help an inmate escape for her release. Reinhardt searches for clues to solve the case.

The first series of Prey aired on 28 April 2014, with a second series broadcast in December 2015. Each series consists of three episodes, each roughly 45 minutes long. The show earned a BAFTA Television Award nomination in the 'Mini Series' category in 2015. John Simm also won a Royal Television Society North West Award for 'Best Male Performance' for his role as DC Marcus Farrow.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Prey holds a 100% rating. One critic described it as "a near perfect blend of well-crafted characterizations within the context of a credibly gripping murder case." Another reviewer added: "Despite its familiar premise, Prey is an engrossing, dynamic series."
