Lloyds Banking Group Announces Major Branch Closures Across the UK

Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed a significant reduction in its high street presence with the planned closure of 95 bank branches across the United Kingdom. This latest announcement affects customers of Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, with closures scheduled to take place between May 2026 and March 2027.

Details of the Branch Closures

Under the new plans, a total of 53 Lloyds Bank branches, 31 Halifax outlets, and 11 Bank of Scotland sites will cease operations. While the exact number of job losses has not been specified, Lloyds Banking Group has assured that all employees currently working at the affected branches will be offered alternative roles within the business or at other locations. This move follows a series of previous branch reductions, including 49 sites set to close by October and 136 closures announced approximately a year ago.

Impact on Access to Cash and Banking Hubs

In response to concerns about access to cash, the cash access network Link has confirmed that 14 new banking hubs will be established across the country. These shared spaces will feature staff from different banks operating on various days, providing essential services such as cash withdrawals, deposits, and bill payments. Closure dates are subject to change at locations marked with an asterisk, where banking hubs have been recommended.
