Halifax Warns Customers as Brand Changes to Lloyds Over Months
Halifax Warns Customers as Brand Changes to Lloyds

Halifax has issued a warning to all customers as it begins the process of changing its brand to Lloyds. The bank confirmed that the iconic Halifax name will be phased out, with all accounts transitioning to the Lloyds brand over the next few months. Halifax has been owned by Lloyds Banking Group since 2009 but operated as a separate brand until now.

No Immediate Action Required

In a Facebook post, Halifax assured customers: “The Halifax brand is changing to Lloyds. If you are a Halifax customer there is nothing to do right now, we'll keep you updated along the way.” The bank stressed that customers do not need to take any immediate action and will be informed before any changes affect their accounts.

Scam Warning

Halifax also warned customers to be vigilant against scammers attempting to exploit the transition. The bank stated: “Please remember as part of this change, we will never ask customers to share their personal details or move money by e-mail, phone or text.” Customers are advised to ignore any unsolicited requests for information or payment related to the rebranding.

What the Change Means

On its website, Halifax outlined the timeline and impact: “Over time, the brand of your Halifax accounts will change to Lloyds. If you have different Halifax accounts, updates may happen at different times, and we’ll always let you know before anything changes.” The bank noted that customers can already manage their money using the Halifax, Lloyds, or Bank of Scotland apps, online banking, and branches, as they are part of the same group.

App and Online Banking Migration

Halifax explained that users of the Halifax app and online banking will be invited to move to the Lloyds platform. “Over the next few months, we’ll be in touch to move you to the Lloyds app and online banking as we’ll be closing these for Halifax. They work in a similar way so should feel familiar and just as easy to use.” The bank will send invitations through the app and online banking, along with email notifications, to guide customers through the process without requiring passwords or memorable details to be set up.
