Halifax Customers Can Now Use Lloyds Branches for Banking Services
Halifax Customers Can Use Lloyds Branches for Banking

Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed that Halifax and Bank of Scotland customers can now use any Lloyds Bank branch for in-person banking services, a change that took effect last year. Signs placed in Lloyds branches, such as the one in Devizes, Wiltshire, spotted on June 21, 2026, read: "Hello Halifax customers? Did you know? You can use Lloyds branches to manage your Halifax account. Speak to us today."

Background of the Change

The move builds on the group's existing practice of allowing cross-brand support via phone services. A Lloyds Banking Group spokesperson said: "We're always looking for ways to make banking easier and more flexible for our customers, so last year we offered Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland customers the option to use branches of any brand for their in-person banking, alongside our apps, mobile messaging, and telephone services."

This expansion means customers can access in-person help at branches closer to their homes, potentially reducing travel times. The group also operates 170 Community Bankers who provide services in community venues and banking hubs where no local branch exists.

Branch Closures

Despite the increased flexibility, Lloyds Bank is proceeding with the closure of 59 branches between June and November 2026. The closures include locations such as Hull Ings Rd (June 15), Birmingham Bordesley Green (June 16), Sevenoaks (June 18), and Harrogate (November 19). A full list is available on the Lloyds Bank website.

Customers are advised to check online for local banking services as the branch network shrinks. The changes aim to balance digital banking growth with physical service availability.
