Ederson to Man Utd: £35m Deal Intact, Medical Pending

Manchester United's pursuit of Atalanta midfielder Ederson remains on track, with a £35 million plus £3.8 million in add-ons deal still firmly in place, according to Express Sport. Recent speculation that the transfer had collapsed is unfounded.

Deal Details and Personal Terms

The Premier League club has agreed a fee with the Serie A side for the Brazilian international. Personal terms have also been settled, with Ederson set to sign a four-year contract once the transfer is finalized. The delay in an official announcement is due to his participation in the World Cup with Brazil.

Ederson has not yet undergone a medical, a standard step before completion. He was unable to do so while on international duty, but Brazil's early exit from the tournament—a 2-0 defeat to Norway, with two goals from Manchester City's Erling Haaland—now clears the way for the medical to proceed.

Medical and Pre-Season Timeline

It remains unclear whether United will rush the medical or allow Ederson rest after the World Cup. The club's pre-season tour of Scandinavia runs from July 18 to August 1, with matches against Wrexham in Helsinki, Rosenborg in Trondheim, and Atletico Madrid in Stockholm. A friendly against Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg on August 8 could mark his debut.

Midfield Reinforcements Needed

Manager Michael Carrick is eager to bolster his midfield options. Currently, Kobbie Mainoo is the only senior central midfielder available, following Casemiro's departure and Manuel Ugarte's serious knee injury sustained while playing for Uruguay at the World Cup. United have been linked with several midfielders, including Aurelien Tchouameni of Real Madrid, Bournemouth's Alex Scott, and Chelsea's Andrey Santos. Former targets Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes moved to Manchester City and Tottenham respectively, deemed too costly. Sandro Tonali is also set to join Tottenham for around £100 million.

Ederson's arrival would provide a significant boost to Carrick's squad as they prepare for the new season.
