Arsenal's summer midfield recruitment drive has intensified, with the club receiving clarity on the potential cost of two top targets. The Gunners, who have only secured Piero Hincapie's permanent transfer so far, are now focusing on Newcastle United's Bruno Guimaraes and Lille's Ayyoub Bouaddi.
Bruno Guimaraes: £65m Could Tip the Balance
Arsenal's interest in Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes has been rekindled this summer. The Magpies rejected an initial verbal bid of around £55m, but according to Chronicle Live, a £65m offer from the Gunners "could tip the balance" in negotiations. The 28-year-old Brazilian has concerns over Newcastle's direction after they failed to qualify for Europe and sold Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has already bid farewell to Tonali and Gordon, and the club has reportedly ruled out a third departure of a key star. However, the report suggests that a £65m bid might force a reconsideration. Newcastle are also planning to offer Guimaraes a new contract to fend off interest.
Ayyoub Bouaddi: Price Tag Soars Above £100m
Arsenal's pursuit of 18-year-old Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi has hit a potential snag. Initially valued at £60m, Lille president Olivier Letang has now indicated that the Morocco international, who has impressed at the 2026 World Cup, could cost over £100m.
"Many clubs are interested in him, but very few can afford him right now," Letang told Eurosport. "He's already one of the best midfielders in the world and still has significant room for improvement. He's only 18 and has his whole future ahead of him."
Letang referenced recent transfers of Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali to justify the price, stating: "How much have players like Anderson or Tonali been sold for, who are much older, but without room for improvement? You have an idea of the value of Ayyoub, who has a unique profile at only 18 years old."
Bouaddi, who has three years remaining on his Lille contract, is also being tracked by Manchester United and Liverpool.
Arsenal's Midfield Plans
Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his midfield as Arsenal prepare to defend their Premier League title, won for the first time in 22 years. With only Hincapie's permanent transfer completed so far, the Gunners are under pressure to secure key additions before the window closes.
