Rangers have tabled a long-term deal that has convinced Ross McCrorie to become Derek McInnes' first signing at Ibrox. The Ibrox side have agreed a deal of around £1.5 million with Bristol City for the Scotland international. The defender has completed his medical and will sign a three-year contract with an additional 12-month club option.
Deal Not Yet Finalised
The transfer has not been finalised but is expected to be completed within the next 24 to 48 hours. McCrorie will return to Rangers, having come through the ranks at Ibrox before moving to Aberdeen in 2020, where McInnes was his manager. McCrorie has been on Rangers' radar all summer and was initially among Danny Rohl's top right-back targets. The club's interest intensified when McInnes was appointed Rangers boss, making it clear that the 28-year-old was the man he wanted.
McCrorie's Decision
McCrorie had a new offer from Bristol City on the table and was wanted by several English Championship sides. However, when Rangers expressed their interest, he decided that was the deal he wanted. McCrorie will be Rangers' second signing of the summer, following Lawrence Shankland, who joined on a free transfer from Hearts. Shankland is another player McInnes knows well, having been his captain at Tynecastle last season.
According to a source close to the deal, 'Ross is thrilled to be returning to Rangers and working with Derek again. The club's ambition and the manager's vision were key factors in his decision.'
