Meghan Markle has been advised to take a leaf out of Princess Catherine's book as she prepares for her first visit to Britain in four years. The Duchess of Sussex is expected to arrive early next week to support Prince Harry during his five-day trip marking the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games in Birmingham.
Expert Advice: Let Harry Shine
Renae Smith, founder of PR and branding agency The Atticism, told the Daily Express that Meghan should let her husband take center stage. “If I were advising her, my advice would be very simple: take the Princess of Wales approach for this trip,” Smith said. “Show up, support your husband, be warm, gracious and present, but don’t try to own the narrative. Don’t give speeches unless absolutely necessary. Don’t create separate moments. Don’t make yourself the headline.”
Smith emphasized that this is Harry's event and legacy. “From a PR perspective, that would actually be one of the smartest things she could do,” she added.
Schedule and Security Concerns
While the official schedule has not been confirmed, Meghan is expected to join Harry for visits to the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London and an Invictus event at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. The trip comes amid ongoing security disputes. Harry has been challenging the Home Office over his downgraded security status in the UK, as the Sussexes no longer receive armed police protection following their departure from royal duties six years ago.
The Duke was awaiting a review by the Risk Management Board, part of the process governing royal security, but learned last Friday that the review had not yet taken place. He is still seeking safe ways to bring his family to Britain.
