Martin & Co Huddersfield buys ADM Residential in fourth deal

Martin & Co Huddersfield has acquired independent estate and letting agency ADM Residential, as franchise owner Will Taylor continues to expand the business. The deal represents Taylor's fourth acquisition since taking over the Huddersfield franchise in 2009.

ADM Residential's property portfolio will be incorporated into the existing Martin & Co operation, strengthening its presence across the local sales and lettings market. Taylor originally launched the franchise with just one other member of staff, and the business has since grown to a team of 12.

Attractive location and portfolio

Taylor said ADM Residential's location and portfolio made it an attractive acquisition. “We are always considering acquisitions and when I met with ADM and they spoke to me about it, I was super excited,” he said. “Located in a great area of Huddersfield, I thought the portfolio would merge into our existing stock with ease.”

The latest purchase follows three previous acquisitions, with Taylor identifying preparation and integration planning as important factors in completing deals. Operations manager Lisa Hollings has overseen much of the integration work, including the transfer of ADM Residential's portfolio.

Integration praised

Taylor praised Hollings' role in the process. “Lisa has been a huge part of the success of our business and has played a massive role in integrating the businesses we have acquired over the years,” he said. “Her knowledge of our operation, attention to detail and ability to keep everything moving during an acquisition is invaluable.”

Hollings added: “Every acquisition brings its own challenges, but having a clear plan and making sure the team is aligned from the outset makes a huge difference. Our priority throughout the integration of ADM Residential has been to make the transition as seamless as possible.”

Continuity and future growth

The business says continuity for ADM Residential's landlords, vendors and tenants will be a priority as the portfolios are combined. Toby Phillips, group managing director at Martin & Co, welcomed the deal. “We are delighted to see Will continue to build on the success of Martin & Co Huddersfield with this fifth acquisition,” he said. “His track record demonstrates both a clear appetite for growth and, importantly, the operational experience required to integrate businesses successfully.”

Taylor intends to pursue further acquisitions as he looks to expand the franchise's presence in Huddersfield. The financial terms of the ADM Residential deal have not been disclosed.
