Manchester United have announced the signing of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa on a five-year contract. The 29-year-old midfielder joins the club for an undisclosed fee, forming part of a midfield revamp that also includes the arrival of Andrey Santos from Chelsea.

United paid a combined £85m for Tielemans and Santos, after declining to meet West Ham's valuation of Mateus Fernandes. Tielemans spent three years at Villa Park, winning the Europa League last season, and previously played for Leicester City, where he scored the winner in the 2021 FA Cup final.

Tielemans captained Belgium at the 2026 World Cup, starting every match and scoring twice before missing the quarter-final due to injury. He began his career at Anderlecht, moved to Monaco in 2017, and joined Leicester on loan before a permanent transfer.

United are expected to make another midfield signing before the transfer window closes, with Bournemouth's Alex Scott and Borussia Dortmund's Felix Nmecha on the radar. The club's first pre-season friendly is against Wrexham in Finland on Saturday.
