Manchester United are preparing for a busy summer transfer window after securing a Champions League spot under manager Michael Carrick. The club's return to Europe's elite competition has intensified the need for squad reinforcements, with midfield emerging as a top priority.
Ratcliffe Gives Green Light for Anderson
United are optimistic about signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe willing to meet the player's wage demands. Forest rejected an initial £80m offer from Manchester City, who are considered frontrunners. However, United believe they can convince the 23-year-old England international to join Carrick's side.
Anderson currently earns around £100,000 per week at Forest and could receive a 50% increase from either Manchester club. West Ham's Mateus Fernandes is also among other midfield targets under consideration.
Surprise Move for Darlow
In an unexpected development, United are reportedly considering a move for Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow. The 35-year-old made 22 league appearances last season and is seen as a potential second-choice option behind Senne Lammens. Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana are not part of the club's plans.
Darlow, who is also linked with Tottenham, will be available as a free agent when his Leeds contract expires. Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, a homegrown talent who started his career at United, is another option on the radar.
