Manchester United could part ways with as many as six players before their Premier League opener against Hull City next weekend. The club has had a steady transfer window so far, with only three arrivals since the end of last season.
Transfer activity so far
United have spent a combined £85 million on midfield duo Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, and signed free agent goalkeeper Karl Darlow. In terms of departures, Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia left on free transfers at the end of last season, while Altay Bayindir joined Celta Vigo on loan until the end of the campaign. Rasmus Hojlund, Tyler Fredricson and Radek Vitek have also left Old Trafford on permanent deals this summer.
Academy graduates and first-team players linked with exits
Academy graduate Toby Collyer has been asked to find another club, according to The Sun, after being left out of the recent pre-season trip to Sweden. He had unsuccessful loans at West Bromwich Albion and Hull City in the Championship last season, with both spells marred by injury.
The same report states that Dan Gore will "almost certainly" leave United on a permanent basis, while fellow academy graduates Ethan Wheatley and Harry Amass could also depart over the coming days. Joshua Zirkzee is another player with an uncertain future, with Football Insider reporting that United would prefer to sell him rather than negotiate a loan exit. Juventus and Roma have been linked with a move for the Dutchman, who has struggled to impress since joining in the summer of 2024.
Marcus Rashford's uncertain future
Marcus Rashford could still leave despite being handed a new squad number. According to Fabrizio Romano, a bid from a top European club may result in his departure, but if no suitable offers arrive, he is likely to remain at Old Trafford. A previous clause that would have allowed him to join any club for £40 million, apart from Manchester City or Liverpool, is now said to have expired.
It remains to be seen how many exits will be sanctioned before United travel to face Hull next weekend, but there is a chance that it could be an extremely busy period for the Red Devils.
