Lee Andrews is reportedly facing a return to prison within 14 days if he fails to settle his debts. This comes following the release of documents revealing the extent of his financial woes.
The Disappearance and Arrest
Lee, aged 43, disappeared for two weeks, with his wife Katie Price, 48, fearing that he had been 'kidnapped'. However, it later emerged that he was held in Al Awir Prison in Dubai on fraud charges, although he insists he was actually imprisoned for espionage.
After being released, Lee reunited with his wife and explained all in a video showcasing a new hairstyle some suspect of being edited using AI. Now, reports suggest that a Dubai court has told Lee to pay off his outstanding debts within two weeks or face another stint in jail.
Debts and Court Order
Documents revealed that Lee's debts include £54,000 related to car hire and £15,000 owed to a United Arab Emirates legal firm, which triggered his initial arrest warrant, according to the Mirror. It's reported that Lee is not currently 'actively wanted' by police officials, but must clear these debts within 14 days.
A spokesperson for Lee told The Sun: 'The judgement debtor appeared before the court and was questioned regarding the reason for failure to pay the debt. He stated his wife is currently outside the country and that he has been unable to access his bank account required to make payment. He requested a period of 14 days in order to settle the outstanding amount.'
An insider close to Lee revealed: 'Lee managed to talk himself out of jail, and said he would be able to raise the capital himself. He says Katie has been his rock, and helped him liaise with officials when he was banged-up but that he hasn't asked her to pay off any of his debts. He insists he can do that himself.'
Katie Price's Involvement
Katie stated her husband had 'questions to answer' over his supposed fortune after his release but seems to have accepted him back. Lee continues to claim that he was arrested on suspicion of espionage 'and held in a state security building' concerning a 'a civil case in Dubai', despite substantial evidence supporting the claim he was arrested on suspicion of fraud.
Posting on Instagram, he declared there is 'not one shred of evidence' that he had been charged with fraud, refuting claims made by his ex-fiancée Alana Percival.
He alleged he was 'taken by the Qatar border by the men, at gunpoint and was captured by men with assault rifles, they did slap me round a little bit, little s***s.' He then added: 'From there I was taken to a black site where I had no use of my phone and from what I know, it was an extended arm of the National Guard and that is all I can reveal at the moment. I have signed disclaimers with state security and from there I was put into the system. At no point have I faced anything to do with fraud allegations or criminal activities.'
Lee added that Katie managed to 'secure his release' after collaborating with UK authorities. He further stated he was 'sending these messages out to my loved ones and my beautiful wife, who without her help involving all the UK authorities, I don't think I would have got out of that situation.'
