Kevin Keegan's Harley-Davidson Auctioned for Cancer Research

Kevin Keegan's custom Harley-Davidson, a 1990 Sportster adorned with Newcastle United livery, is set to be auctioned for Cancer Research UK. The motorcycle has been owned by the football legend since new and will be sold with no reserve.

Auction Details

The bike will go under the hammer through H&H Classics at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull on July 22. A percentage of the sale proceeds will be donated to Cancer Research UK, following Keegan's recent disclosure of a stage four cancer diagnosis.

Collector's Item

Ian Cunningham, senior motorcycle specialist at H&H Classics, said: "This Kevin Keegan owned Harley-Davidson Sportster is a fantastic collector's item and we're honoured to be auctioning it. Kevin Keegan is one of the country's most influential football figures and, of course, has very strong ties to Newcastle United, delivering them success as a player and a manager. We expect there will be a lot of interest in this very special Harley-Davidson."

Keegan's Legacy

Keegan began his managerial career with Newcastle United in 1992, leading them to the Premier League and narrowly missing the 1995/96 title. He later managed Fulham and the England national team, returning to Newcastle in 2008 for a brief stint. Keegan earned 63 caps for England and won the Ballon d'Or in 1978 and 1979.

Recent Public Appearance

Earlier this month, the 75-year-old appeared in good spirits during a video prior to his first public appearance at the Tyne Theatre. During the event, Keegan shared details of his cancer battle, saying: "They said we have a top doctor with this new way of fighting what you have got. Which is stage four cancer. He was a Liverpool supporter so I went to meet him. I knew I wouldn't be walking alone, if you know what I mean." Keegan also expressed his desire to return to St. James' Park for a proper farewell to supporters.
