The Harbour Inn, a historic pub in the coastal town of Amble, Northumberland, has been sold to leading hospitality company Punch Pubs & Co. The deal, brokered by Christie & Co for an undisclosed amount, secures the future of the venue while retaining its current operators, the Hume family.
A Landmark Venue with a Rich History
Located on Leazes Street with a prime waterfront position overlooking the harbour, The Harbour Inn has operated as a pub for more than 150 years. It is the only building in the harbour area recognised as being built before 1860. The pub attracts a loyal local following and benefits from the town's thriving tourism market, drawing customers from across Northumberland and beyond.
The venue offers a bar and grill serving fresh, locally sourced dishes, as well as accommodation for tourists. Four years ago, the Hume family invested heavily in the site, undertaking extensive refurbishments including a new cellar, bar, and kitchen, and converting vacant first-floor areas into guest rooms.

The Hume family, who also run The Market Tavern in Alnwick, will continue to manage The Harbour Inn. Punch Pubs & Co expressed confidence in the strength of the UK's coastal pub market and in the operators' ability to drive long-term success.
