Haunted Welsh Pub with Three Ghosts and Owain Glyndŵr Link Up for Sale
Haunted Welsh Pub with Three Ghosts Up for Sale

A haunted Welsh pub, reputedly home to three ghosts and with historical ties to Owain Glyndŵr, has been listed for sale. The current Three Pigeons Inn in Graigfechan, Ruthin, dates back to 1777, though the site has served as a drovers' inn since the 12th century.

According to legend, the inn was a resting place for Owain Glyndŵr, the last native Prince of Wales. The pub's name remains a mystery, but many believe it refers to the ancient Celtic symbols for the 'Three Graces' – honesty, fidelity, and loyalty.

Such a rich history brings with it the customary ghosts – possibly three in this instance. Reports include sightings of an elderly gentleman seated in an armchair by the fireplace and the playful antics of a young teenager. One former landlord even brought in UK-Paranormal to conduct an investigation.

Property Details and Potential

The pub, ghosts included, is now available for purchase through Christie and Co with an asking price of £675,000. The property features a traditional bar, a restaurant, a dining area, two holiday apartments, and a three-bedroom cottage.

The agent stated: 'The business presents strong potential for growth, with current trading patterns largely reflecting the lifestyle preferences of the existing owners rather than the full commercial capacity of the site.'

'A new operator could unlock additional revenue by extending the currently limited trading hours, particularly during key trading periods, to better capture both local and visitor demand.'

'The property also benefits from a commercial-grade kitchen, installed six years ago, which is currently underutilised. The reduction of the food offering two years ago creates a clear opportunity to reintroduce a food-led proposition, leveraging the well-presented trading areas and existing infrastructure.'

'Overall, the property is well-positioned for turnover growth through focused operational improvements, with the potential to establish itself as a strong destination venue within the area.'
