Haissem Hassan Release Clause Drops to £10m Amid Celtic Links
Haissem Hassan Release Clause Drops to £10m, Celtic Linked

Celtic are tracking Egypt international Haissem Hassan after his release clause dropped from £16 million to £10 million following Real Oviedo's relegation from La Liga. However, the Scottish club and other suitors are aware that Spanish clubs typically set high release clauses, with actual transfer fees often falling below that figure. Reports suggest Oviedo may accept around £4 million for the winger, with interest also coming from Saudi Arabia.

World Cup Heroics and Relegation Impact

Hassan impressed at the World Cup, providing a superb assist as Egypt took a stunning 2-0 lead against holders Argentina before a late collapse saw them eliminated. The 24-year-old, who previously represented France at youth level, played 37 matches for Oviedo last season but managed only three assists. His contract includes a relegation clause that reduced his release fee from £16m to £10m.

Transfer Details and Celtic's Interest

Oviedo would also owe 40% of any transfer fee to Villarreal, Hassan's former club, as part of the deal that brought him to Spain two years ago. Celtic are looking to strengthen their squad for the new season and see Hassan as an option to add pace and creativity. The Hoops face competition from other clubs, but the reduced clause makes a move more feasible.
